In front of the [8 floors building] of Summer Spring Hotel, Pattaya, no. 436 / 3-4 Soi 1 pattaya beach road, police found Mr. Mr.Kim Chang Hyon (41), from South Korea, lying dead, face down on the ground. He was wearing blue shorts, and no shirt. His head was severely injured and there was a pool of blood on the ground.

On inspecting his room on the 4th floor, there were some signs of fighting in the bedroom and some pieces of broken glass in the toilet, some bloodstain on a towel, all of which police kept as evidence.

However. Miss. Amornrat Watabe (25) his girlfriend from U-dorn, was still frightening and crying, told police that,
on Saturday 21st, She, Mr. Kim and their Korean customers drove to Pattaya to purchase property [14 Rai of land], opposite to Ambassador hotel, in order to build a new hotel. Miss. Amornrat said, the business deal went well on the day. They had checked in at Summer Spring Hotel, Pattaya, where later the incident occurred.

Late at night, Mr. Kim and his Korean customers went to the Stardise pub but she went to a bowling place in North Pattaya with two Thai women who were in the same group.

According to the police, Miss Amornrat said she received a phone call from Mr. Kim at around 1.00 am, and asked her to pick him and his friends up from the pub. When she arrived there, his Korean friends wanted to stay longer in the pub, the couple then drove back to the hotel.

The big argument had started when Mr. Kim [who was in a very drunken state] ordered Miss Amornrat to drive back to pick his friends up again. She told the police that she refused because she was very tired. Mr. Kim then went very angry and shouted at her.

She added that,  Mr. Kim had business in Thailand for more than 20 years and speak very good Thai. He had a house in Soi Nualjan 32, Ramintra, Bungkoom, Bangkok, where  they had been living together for about three months and this was not the first time that Mr. Kim was acting aggressively.

When the fighting was getting serious, Mr. Kim grabbed a glass and hit it on his head and started to attack her, Miss Amornrat said she decided to pack her bag and terrorized him, if he did not calm down, she would leave. Police revealed.

Miss Amornrat , who once was married to a Japanese, further told the police, she was sleeping on the couch and Mr. Kim was sleeping in the bed for about one hour, then he woke up and walked to her packing bag and passed urine on it before walked out to the balcony and leaped off.

Police assumed that Mr. Kim committed suicide because of the drunkenness. However, police will investigate more witnesses for further information. Mr. Kim’s body was sent to the forensic laboratory in Bangkok and The Korean Embassy will be informed accordingly.
