A Crazed Man Burns His Own House To Commit Suicide

A 42-year-old man who was drunk tried to commit suicide by setting fire to a mini gas tank to cause an explosion. He was found hiding in the toilet holding a large knife so fire fighters sprayed him with a fire extinguisher until he dropped the knife and was arrested by police.

SATTAHIP – February 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.45 a.m. Pol. Lt. Sinsamoot Boonthassana (Investigation police on duty of Sattahip police station) was notified that there was a crazed man tried to set fire to a gas tank to commit suicide in a house no. 32/18 Sirisa 2 village, Soi Bon Kai, Moo 5 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province, so he rushed to inspect at scene together with the police team, the rescuers of Sawang Rojjana Tharmma Satharn Sattahip foundation and the officers of Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.

At the incident was a 2 story concrete town houses. There were fumes coming from the house and the crazed man had also thrown glass beer bottles from the balcony which caused more than 30 residents who were watching the incident to run away and someone had moved their belongings from their houses because they were afraid of then getting burnt. Also some cares were damaged and some people were injured from the broken glass.

After 30 minutes had passed the officers decided to break the glass door on the first floor in order to extinguish the the mini gas tank size 4 kg that was burning. The officers then armed themselves and searched the building for the crazed man who was found hiding in the restroom on the second floor. He was holding a long knife so the firemen decided to spray him with the fire extinguisher which contained (CO2) until he dropped the knife and was arrested. Once arrested the angry residents went into the house to beat him up injuring him. The crazed man was identified as a Mr. Chanok Suwan, aged 42, who was the owner of the incident house.
