A 60 – Year-Old Man Finds Bomb

A 60-year-old man was startled when he found a bomb whilst cutting some grass. He ran away and went to notify the police. The officers inspected the bomb and found that it was safe as it had already been used.

SATTAHIP – January 19, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.00 p.m. Pol. Lt. Noraphat Thongdee (Investigation officer of Phlutaluang police station) was notified that there was a bomb which was found in an area near a house address 94/22 Moo 7 Tambon Phlutaluang, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province so he rushed to inspect the scene and coordinated to ask for support from the explosive salvage officers, Naval Ordnance Department.

At the incident was there was a deserted grasses area and approximately 20 meters from a house the officers found a old bomb, cream-colored, which was produced in U.S.A. and was sticking out of the ground. Mr. Thongdee Suangdon, aged 60, who is the house owner, had covered it with a tyre. Then the explosive salvage officers inspected it and found that the bomb was already used so it was not dangerous.
From questioning Mr. Thongdee Suangdon (the house owner) he said that he had mowed the grass and while he was collecting the cut grass with a hoe he hit the bomb which startled him so he ran off to notify the police.

Second Lieutenant Phandee Khailaihong (the head of the explosive salvage officers) said that the explosive was a shooting bomb, size 81, that was used with a catapult with remote radius and it would explode when its head hit the ground . Initially, the officers took it to be inspected further and then destroyed.
