Pattaya, 11th March 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 10:10 p.m., Police General Somnuek Janket Superintendent of Banglamung Department, Chonburi was informed there has been a gun robbery at the Green Net convenient store, Bang Jak Petrol Station, Bang Poe branch (located at No. 182/22 Sukhumwit Rd, Moo.2, Banglamung, Chonburi). The police hurried to the crime scene along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Supachat Piemmanas Assistant Superintendent, and other police officers.

The victim was Miss Natcha Pattathom, aged 19 (resides at No.75, Moo.12, Nongsonghong, Khonkhaen). She was still in shock when the police arrived. The victim described the suspect as a Thai man, aged around 25-30, wearing black round-collar t-shirt and jeans. He also wore a helmet, driving black with white strip Yamaha, with unknown number plate.

She told the police that she was working at the shop alone and saw some men standing outside the store. The suspect waited until there were no other customers left in the store, then he walked into the shop with his helmet on. The suspect pretended to buy a pack of cigarettes at the counter. When the victim handed the cigarettes packet to the suspect, he took out his gun and pointed directly at her. The suspect demanded the victim to hand him all the cash, including coins. The victim obeyed his order immediately without any hesitation because she was frightened and scared for her life. The thief got his cash – worth approximately 3,000 Baht. The victim added that the suspect ordered her to watch out for any witnesses outside the shop, but nobody was there. The thief told her to stay inside while he drove away from the scene quickly.

Miss Natcha stayed inside the store until the gas man, Mr. Wittawat Nopawan, came into the shop. Mr. Wittawat told the police that the suspect had stopped by his petrol station to fuel up around 50 Baht, before coming to the store. The gas man did not pay attention to the suspect because he thought the thief was just another regular customer.

The police checked the security camera. The time of incident was recorded at 10.06 p.m. The suspect took only less than 8 minutes to rob the store.

Police General Somnuek Janket stated that the police planned to interrogate the victim and witnesses for more information. Also a picture of the thief obtained from the security camera will be posted. It was likely that the robber was a local.
