Pattaya, 21st November 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] : At 2.00am on November 20, Banglamung Investigators were notified of a Thai man who had been seriously injured in a shooting at his house, No. 48/9, S.P.Village 1, Soi Baan Lang, Moo6, Nongprue, Banglamung and been sent to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for treatment. The team of investigators led by Police Colonel Somnuk Janket (Banglamung Superintendent) rushed to the scene of the incident.

In front of the 2-story single house, built on 150 square wah, police found pieces of broken glass from a car window scattered on the ground, along with 7 shells from a 11mm gun that were kept as the evidence.

The officials went to the hospital, finding a black Hyundai Van in the car park with broken windows, several bullet holes from the shooting and an 11 mm bullet head on the drivers’ seat. The injured man was later identified as Mr. Supphawit Jarun [53], the owner of 69 Club Show Bar in North Pattaya. He was seriously injured with 6 gunshot wounds.

Mrs. Rattana Chaiyokat [42] the victim’s wife stated that before the incident occurred after their club closed. She and husband had been drinking with their friends before all left to go home. Mr. Jarun was driving his car whilst his wife was sitting at the passenger seat and her sister was in the back.

When they arrived at their house, Mrs. Chaiyokat was opening the electric gate when a man (165-179cm. tall, approximately 30 years old) with very short hair and wearing a black jacket had confronted them pulling out the gun and shooting several times directly at Mr. Jarun. Mrs. Chaiyokat screamed out for help whilst Mr. Jarun who was severely injured tried to get out the car to hide in the swimming pool.  The assailant calmly watched for a few seconds to ensure his victim had died before leaving on his motorbike which was parked 50 meters from the scene and headed in the direction of Soi Nernplubwan.  Mr. Chaiyokat and her sister then transported Mr. Jarun to the hospital for treatment.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Pramot Ngampradit (Banglamung Police Deputy Superintendent) stated during their investigation they discovered that a CCTV had been installed at the house, but had not been activated.  A picture of the suspect will be produced from the descriptions given by the victims and witnesses which will hopefully lead to his arrest.

The cause of the shooting is yet unknown, but is believed to involve a personal matter or a conflict of interest in some business venture.
