50-year-old Chonburi Woman Arrested for Selling M-16 Rifle

Pattaya police arrest a 50 year-old Thai woman who was trying to sell an M-16 assault rifle which she received from her son who was recently arrested in possession of yaba.

Pattaya, June 23 2011, [Pattaya Daily News]: Pol.Col. Nuntawut Suwanlaoong, Pattaya Police and his undercover team went to arrest the woman suspected of selling an M-16 automatic rifle.

This undercover arrest resulted from a previous arrest of a drug dealer leading to the information that someone would sell an M-16 rifle to an illegal businessmen at a price of 25,000 THB. The M-16 rifle was to be delivered upon appointment to Rattanakorn 3 Village in Nongprue, Banglamung.

Upon appointment, a Thai woman came by car to deliver the M 16 rifle to the undercover agent who arrested her.

The suspect was Ms Prakong Kumdee, 50, residence: 84/44 Moo.5, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonbur. Ms Prakong was arrested along with 28 cartridges of M-16 ammunition and two rifle magazines.

The suspect confessed that the M 16 rifle belongs to her son Mr Chadchai Sakornkeaw, 27, who was recently arrested in possession of amphetamines. He gave her the rifle in order for her to earn money.

The suspect was detained for legal prosecution.
