4 Thieves Drill ATM Machine in Pattaya

A gang of 4 thieves who wore black knitted balaclavas used metal cutting equipment to drill into an ATM machine of Siam Commercial Bank on the side of Sukhumvit road, they got away with 2 money boxes containing an un-know amount before fleeing the scene.

PATTAYA – April 29, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.00 a.m.; Pol.Col. Sutthisak Wanthee (Superintendent of Nong Prue police station, Chonburi province) was notified that an ATM machine of Siam Commercial Bank (which was located on the side of Sukhumvit road, entrance route to Sattahip, in front of S-Con Concrete Co., Ltd., address 110/17 Moo 12 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province) had been drilled and all the cast had been taken, so he reported it his superior police officer then rushed to inspect at scene together with the detective team.

At the incident the officers found the back iron door of the ATM machine of Siam Commercial Bank had been cut open. From initial inspection the officers found that the thieves had taken 2 money boxes away with them so the police had to wait for the bank clerk to arrive to check how much had been taken. The officers also found 1 lock and 1 piece of canvas (a heavy, closely woven fabric; used for clothing or chairs or sails or tents) so the police kept them for evidence.

Upon questioning Mr Phaithoon Sutthiprapha, aged 37, the security guard of S-Con Concrete Co., Ltd. He told police that before incident occurred at approximately 12.40 a.m. he could smell burning so he went to see were the smell was coming from and found 4 men who were wearing black knitted balaclavas were taking the money boxes out of the ATM machine and the equipment used to burn the door off was being put on to the back of a dark Carry boy pick-up truck with a roof (didn’t know the license number because the culprits covered it with the paper) before fled the scene.

Upon inspecting the ATM machine, the officers found that the culprits had taken away 2 money boxes but left the third because the security guard had turned up so they fled the scene. However, the police will coordinate with the officers of Siam Commercial Bank to find the exact amount that had been taken. Also the CCTV footage in the area will also be checked in order to catch the 4 thieves so they can be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
