4 Teen Motorbike Riders Snatching Tourist’s Necklace

Police chased and arrested 4 teenagers right after they snatched a German tourist’s necklace and fled. The thieves were arrested in soi 1 south Pattaya and confessed to police that they had done this sort of crime 3 times before.

PATTAYA – January 15, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 14.00, Pol.Capt.Thanasit Kanleum, vice suppression, was notified that there was an incident where a tourist had his necklace snatched in front of Macro department store, on Sukhumwit Rd., Pattaya inbound, moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamoong.

At the crime scene was a Mr.Tredl Tobids, 36 years old German waiting for the police. He told police that while he was riding his motorcycle there were 2 teens riding a green-gray Yamaha Fino motorcycle, red license plate number, 8-3269, which rode alongside him, and then the passenger snatched his 18k gold necklace and fled.

The police then broadcasted the teenagers identities over the police radio and they were quickly caught in soi 1, South Pattaya Rd. They were identified as a Mr.Nattawut Pehharang, 18 years old, the rider, and Mr.Anurak Rattanaporn, 18 years old, who were college students. After searching the body of Mr.Anurak the police found the necklace, so the police took it as evidence. The police then also arrested 2 younger boys, 16 and 14 years old boys respectively in soi Wiangjan restaurant, not far from soi 1 and seized their motorcycle to check.

Mr.Nattawut pleaded guilty, and said he convinced his friend to steal other people’s property. When they arrived in the area of Macro they saw Mr.Tredl riding his motorcycle alone, so he rode near him and the passenger snatched his necklace.The four of them had done it 3 times before and they spent the money on games and traveling. The police then took them to the police station to prosecute them further according to Thai law.
