4 Lithuanians Arrested For Withdrawing Money Using Fake ATM Cards

Pattaya Police were able to arrest 4 Lithuanian men who went around Pattaya withdrawing money using fake ATM cards. A loss of 5 million THB was reported.

3PATTAYA – October 13, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pattaya Police held a press conference regarding the arrest of 4 Lithuanian men who were suspected of withdrawing money from ATMs using fake debit/credit cards. The suspects were aged 19 and 21. Police announced that they were able to seize a skimmer, a machine that copies credit card information and over 450 fake ATM and credit cards.

Police came to the attention of these foreign criminals when an employer of the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) told Pattaya Police officers that fraudulent activity was happening in Pattaya where the criminals would go around different ATM spots in Pattaya and withdraw money using their fake ATM cards.

Police investigated and were able to identify the suspects. They were arrested at a hotel in Bangkok. Police said they were able to withdraw over 5 million THB within one week.

The Lithuanians are now in Police custody and will now be charged for fraud.
