3 Ex-Temple Boys Caught Stealing From Temple

An abbot of Pa Yoob temple in Amphur Sattahip caught 3 ex-temple boys as they were stealing donations and offerings from the temple. The boys told police that they had done it before and they needed the money to play online games.

SATTAHIP – July 23, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.15 a.m., Pol.Capt. Ekkachai Moollee (Inquiry official on duty of Sattahip police station, Chonburi province) was notified by Phra Khru Sangkhakarn Buraphathit (an abbot of Pa Yoob tample) that he had apprehended 3 male teenage thieves who stole donation and offerings from the donation area next to the an abbot’s parsonage, so he rushed to inspect at scene together with officers and detectives.


At the scene the officers found an abbot who had apprehended 3 teenage boys identified as Master Thee (alias), aged 13, Master O (alias), aged 15, and Master A (alias), aged 16, who were ex-temple boys . They were caught with coins, offerings , fruit juice and crackers. Upon inspecting the scene the officers found that the donation box was empty and there was only a few small coins left in the bottom. The police then detained all of 3 the thieves together with exhibits to be questioned further before prosecuting them according to the Thai law.


Stealing Stealing


Upon questioning the 3 defendants, they confessed to the theft and told police that they stole donations and offerings to sell so they could use the money to play online games. They also said that they had done it many times before and got away with it.


Phra Khru Sangkhakarn Buraphathit (an abbot of Pa Yoob tample) said that the 3 boys were ex-temple boys of his temple and they had been caught stealing before but he felt sorry for them and forgave them and made them leave the temple, but they came back and were caught stealing again so he decided to call the police.
