TOKYO – February 19,2014; The Thai embassy in Tokyo, Japan has reported on the successful assistance to the Thais who were stuck in the middle and upper parts of Honshu Island since the weekend.

Most of the 299 persons have departed Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture, and the Thai embassy has arranged lodging for them near Narita Airport, so they may easily board flights back to Thailand.

In the meantime, train and bus services have been halted in Kawaguchiko. Only small cars are able to travel on the road there.

The Thai Foreign Ministry maintains its suggestion for Thais to avoid traveling to Japan during this period, as the Japanese weather bureau is warning of another flare-up of snow storms on February 19 and 20.
