On 23 November 2007, at 12:30am, Police Sub. Lieutenant Wachara Kamsuk, Banglamung, Chonburi, was notified that an eighteen-wheel trailer had capsized and the driver was trapped inside. The accident occurred at Road No. 36, Krathing Lai, Rayong, near the Pira International Circuit car racing grounds, Pong District, Banglamung, Chonburi. A police team, along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue rushed to the scene, prepared with a “jaws of life” widening machine to extricate the man from the truck.
At the scene of the accident, an Izusu Trailer, license 70-0514, Rayong, belonging to So. Boon-Lua Company and carrying tapioca flour, had fallen onto the road shoulder. The trailer slid about five meters off the road, onto the grass. It capsized and the container holding the tapioca bounced off the truck. The driver was crushed and trapped by the steering wheel. Sawang Boriboon Rescue attempted to use the jaws of life to remove the driver from the wreck. However, it took over forty minutes to remove the driver, who did not survive the ordeal.

The driver, Mr. Jiradet Garawigo (29), from 51 Moo 1, Hua Thoong, Konkaen Province, sustained broken arms and legs. His face and head sustained fatal wounds caused by his being crushed in the wreck. Officials transferred his body to Banglamung Hospital. They will contact the company where he was employed, as well as, his relatives so that religious rituals can be performed.

Officials believe that Mr. Jiradet was transferring tapioca flour from a factory in Maab Tapud, Rayong Province to a factory in Laem Chabang, Chonburi. They are theorizing that he may have dozed off; or, alternatively another truck may have hit his trailer, causing it to veer onto the shoulder of the road, causing the trailer to capsize.
