157 More Virus Patients Found in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 11 - The number of Thailand's Influenza A (H1N1) virus patients increased by another 157 Saturday, raising the cumulative total of those who had contracted the disease to 3,228, although the number of fatalities remained unchanged at 15, Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nop-amornbodi said Saturday.

Mr. Manit said the medical establishment is providing appropriate care and follow-up on patients in serious conditions, while noting that only a handful remain under care, as most have been discharged after successful treatment.

Medical Services Department Director-General Dr. Raewat Wisarutvej said the idea proposed by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to set up fast, mobile medical doctor units to look after the public in risk-prone areas has already been arranged by hospitals.

What should be done now is for people suffering from acute, ordinary influenza and also carrying other disease to protect themselves from contracting Influenza A because this disease is deadly, Dr. Raewat said. (TNA)
