Deputy police superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Sutham Chaosrithong was notified at 5.00 pm, and a police and rescue team were sent to the scene of the shooting at the traffic light intersection in Soi Pohthisan, Moo. 6 Naklua. The victim identified herself as Miss Sajee Sookprem [15], a student in year M.3 of the Pohsumpun Pitayakan school, and residing at 366/72 Moo. 5 Naklua, Banglamung.

She had been shot by a 9 mm gun and the bullet had gone straight through her left leg. The rescue team took her immediately to the Banglamung Hospital.

Police questioned the victim’s friend, Mr. Apichai Meebundit [15] who was in the same class. He said that he, Miss Sajee and another female student friend were riding the same motorbike along the road when three men approached them, all aged around 16, riding a red and black Kawasaki KSR.

One of the men, Mr. Jeans [nickname], a senior student who had recently finished at the same school, pulled out a gun and shot one bullet into the air and then pointed the gun at them and fired another shot which hit Miss Sajee in the leg.

Mr. Apichai suspected that Mr. Jeans was probably out for revenge as their two groups had been fighting before.

Police notified patrols in the area but they failed to find Mr. Jeans. However, his information and description will be held on file and police are confident he’ll be brought to justice soon.
