100 Metre Black Stain Washes Up On Jomtien Beach

Tourists got in a panic whilst swimming in the sea off jomtien beach when a 100 metre long black stain washed up on the beach. The unidentified black stain stained clothes and skin.

PATTAYA – April 11,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1:30 , Pattaya journalist were informed by tourists that on Jomtein ian beach, moo 12, Tambon Nong Prue , Banglamung, there was a black stain like oil or asphalt being washed up on the beach, so the journalist went to check the crime scene.

A the scene they found a black stain approximately 100 metres long being washed up on the beach between soi 15 and 18. After inspecting it, it was expected to be more like asphalt rather than oil because it easily stained clothes and skin.

The government officer of municipal authorities of Pattaya was informed about the incident and came to take photographs to report it his supervisor. The officer couldn’t identify the real cause of the spill and it was still under investigation. The municipal authorities’ officer informed the tourists and journalists that it will be cleaned up in the morning to prevent it spreading further.

The basic assumption is expected that a cargo ship or passenger ship may have dumped the black stain by accident or intentionally into the sea which was eventuality washed up on the beach. Also the relevant authorities didn’t put any signs up saying DON’T SWIM to warn people about the contamination. However, journalists will monitor the progress regarding this issue again in the morning and will report it to you later.
