“Row Boat” Association Organizes The Race For Champion

Sea Games members joined the Boat Race in Pattaya for the championship of Southeast Asia to prepare the readiness for Sea Games 2007 in December.

On 25 October 2007, at 03.00 PM, Admiral Sathiraphan Geyanon, Navy commissioner, chaired opening the Row Boat competition to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Majesty the King and to find the champion of Southeast Asia. The event was held at Maab Prachan Reservior, Banglamung, Chonburi.

Amiral Wichai Yunanggur, President of the event, representatives of the league, the athletes and guests of honor joined the opening.

Admiral Wichai, declared that Row Boat association of Thailand together with the Navy, Port Authority of Thailand, Tourist Authority of Thailand, Jaruen-Phokaphan group company and Boon Rod Trading company, had joined to organize this Boat Race during 25 – 27 October 2007

The purpose is to follow through the resolution of the leagues in South East Asia that appointed Thailand to host the event before the 24th Sea Games. It is to give a chance to the athletes to test on the real atmosphere and also checking the record of the athletes in South East Asia before the 24th Sea Games in December.

Admiral Wichai added that this event has had 251 athletes from seven countries to join the race. The three categories of the race are: Paddle Boat competition, Canoeing and Kayak, and Traditional 12 rowers Long Boat competition. The event had received the good support from government sectors a many individuals in Pattaya city.
