SATTAHIP – July 22, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 5 p.m., Pol. Capt. Ekachai Mullee, investigation officer on duty at Sattahip police station, Chonburi, received a report from Pol. Sen.Serg. Maj. Sakesan Poompuang, police officer of the security box of Bantaothan; that several merchants and bystanders caught a thief at 700 rai car boot market fair, moo 3, Sattahip Sattahip, Chonburi, so they went to check.

At the crime scene, the victim, Mrs. Jinnanis Rojsuwannakul, 37, the owner of an “Everything 10 Baht” shop, and others were restraining Mrs. Wipa Sangthong, 56, from Saraburi, who was wearing spectacles. She had stolen a mop, a knife, a head band, and 2 plastic cups, worth about 50 baht total.

The thief tried to beg for the owner’s mercy before she offered to give her a 2-baht weight gold ornament with a Buddha image gold inlay, to exchange for her freedom. The police invited both of them to the police station to compromise.

Pol. Capt. Ekachai Mullee said in this case, the thief inexplicably did not steal much, and she could be afflicted with a compulsive habit that causes her to steal from other people. He suspects she may have stolen many times. The victim wanted 2,500 baht to settle the affair, so the thief pawned her gold ornament to pay.
