Sunday 27th September 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: – Poseidon Restaurant owner, Kim Schnyder and her manager Hugh Millar, are absolutely delightful hosts, who have both had decades of experience in the food and beverage business, with Kim being part of Pattaya’s famous Casa Pascal Restaurant group and Hugh having long experience overseas in the hotel industry.

The Poseidon’s September dinner evening started with a large range of appetisers that included Zapone, chicken liver and port wine mousse, white asparagus, roasted pork loin, smoked fish, salads, plus both Serrrano & honey ham, and these were just the starters. Then came beef consommé with oxtail macedoine and this was followed by a choice of two main courses, which were rosemary chicken with roasted “on moire poix” vegetables, with mushroom gravy. Alternatively you could order French sea bass with Hollandaise sauce, potatoes and sautéed spinach. The quality of this imported fish is excellent, being fresh, tasty and furthermore cooked to absolute perfection by chefs who know exactly what they are doing.

Hugh Millar, who is Poseidon’s very accomplished manager, said that over many years they have continually searched the market place for wines that are of good quality but are at low cost. Such wines do exist in limited quantities, so it is a constant ongoing process of careful evaluation of every vintage that becomes available, to ensure that their clients get real value for money. This September wine dinner was something very special for another reason, because it was manager Hugh’s birthday, and as well as a celebratory cake, the staff presented him with a nice birthday card, which had a number five in it somewhere.

Dessert wound up a perfect dinner evening, and this consisted of Lime Mousse Cinnamon with Orange Ragout, which was served with a perfect balance of Californian Brut champagne. At 1,500 baht this Poseidon wine dinner was excellent value, and the quality is unquestionable, because Kim Schnyder’s involvement with South Pattaya’s Casa Pascal Restaurant automatically puts her in the top bracket of high class restaurants.
