“A Dream in Hanoi” screened at Cinematheque

A screening of documentary film “A Dream in Hanoi” by Tom Weidlinger is coming to Cinematheque (22A Hai Ba Trung, a href="http://http://www.vietnamonline.com/destination/hanoi.html">Hanoi) at 7.00pm on Thursday, 7 June 2012.

During 91 minutes of this documentary, audiences might experience different state of emotion to the flow of the movie, as well as understand about effort of both American and Vietnamese artists when trying to bring the play “A Mid-summer Night Dream” of Shakespeare to Vietnam under numerous difficulties caused by culture-difference or ego clash. Avivid Hanoi is also expected, in term of daily lives, attractions and culture.

In addition, there is a short discussion to audiences about the movie, with participation of director Tom Weidlinger, Dr. Lorelle Browning – American professor who brought “A Mid-Summer Night Dream” to Vietnam, and Doan Chau – former Head of Vietnam Dramatic Theater.

“A Dream in Hanoi” (2002) is a documentary movie directed and produced by Tom Weidlinger, producers of many other highly appreciated documentaries such as “Heart of the Congo” (2004) and “Swim for the River” (2007). The movie reproduces the progress of bringing the famous play “A Mid-Summer Night Dream” by Shakespeare to Vietnam, with various obstacles like cross-cultural misunderstanding, authority regulation and casting for crew.

The screening is opened free to public.
